42 teachers from West Dunbartonshire have started Winning Scotland’s Mindset Teams course. They join more than 500 education professionals from across Scotland, including cohorts from Dundee, Renfrewshire, North Lanarkshire, the Northern Alliance, the South West EIC and Edinburgh Napier University. Mindset Teams is Winning Scotland’s flagship professional learning programme. It supports teaching professionals to establish a growth mindset culture in their schools. We recently published our Mindset Teams Impact Report, where participants told us:
Mindset Teams is endorsed by Education Scotland and accredited by GTCS. Participants can gain 15 accreditation points at (Masters) Level 11 from Glasgow Caledonian University. The West Dunbartonshire cohort is comprised of staff from three secondary schools and seven primary schools.
Up to six staff from each school are taking part – this is where the ‘teams’ aspect comes to the fore. Implementation science shows that working in teams is more effective than going solo when it comes to creating and sustaining change. A Mindset Team is made up of at least three staff per school – one member of senior leadership, like a PT or depute, and two classroom practitioners. This blend of strategic leadership and practical implementation has been one of the reasons why Mindset Teams has achieved so much impact. The West Dunbartonshire Professional Learning team said: “West Dunbartonshire Council is delighted to be funding 42 teachers on the Mindset Teams programme." “Growth mindset has been prominent in our schools for many years and Mindset Teams will help further develop professional knowledge and skills. This will ensure best practice is embedded and further enhance a culture within our schools where our pupils develop a true love of learning and a willingness to take on new challenges.” For more information about Mindset Teams, visit our mindset page or contact us.
