Getting rid of the fear of making mistakes

Teachers at St James’ Primary School, Renfrew, took a whole school approach to embedding a growth mindset.

They went on the same journey, with the same mission - to build resilience in their pupils after lockdown. The whole school approach built in time for teachers to be able to properly commit to the course.

St James’ wanted to help their children to encounter maths as more than just what’s in the textbook. The teachers have seen a huge change since implementing a growth mindset, pupils are now more willing to have a go and they have got rid of the fear of making mistakes, instead mistakes are celebrated.
