The power of not yet
Sian Roberts completed Winning Scotland’s Limitless Learning when she saw her Primary 5 pupils holding themselves back on academic challenges, particularly numeracy.
After reading a Carol Dweck book, Sian knew Limitless Learning was the technique she wanted to try with her pupils at Claypotts Castle, in Dundee.
Pupils didn’t like to be seen making mistakes, and were giving up, but now they look to challenge themselves, thanks to using a growth mindset.
Pupils in Sian’s classroom now commonly use the phrase ‘You can’t do it, YET’ to support and encourage each other.
In the 6-minute case study below, pupils talk about how applying a growth mindset has helped them.
