Mindset instils a love of maths despite Covid disruption

This case study looks at how the relationship between class teacher, school leadership and local authority support led to a successful Mindset Teams project at St Catherine's Primary School in Renfrewshire, and how that groundwork paid off during the upheaval of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Emma Henry and Barry Gallagher embarked upon a three-pronged approach to embed growth mindset practice at their school - seeking to engage parents, pupils and teachers in the process.

Of particular interest was their workshop with parents, which resulted in 70% of parents feeling more confident in helping their children with maths homework.

Of equal interest, 100% of P7 pupils agreed they had a more positive attitude to maths following the growth mindset sessions.
