Growth mindset making a difference in the care sector
We collaborated with Dundee City Council to pilot growth mindset approaches in a number of care settings, demonstrating positive outcomes for looked-after children.
A growth mindset can benefit anyone, but for young people who live in residential homes or have experience of care, life often brings more challenges.
Winning Scotland have supported more than 70% of schools in Dundee to develop growth mindset practice. As word spread about the impact of growth mindset in schools, many staff involved in supporting the 500 care experienced young people in Dundee saw opportunities to do more to help build resilience with this particular group.
As a result, growth mindset training was delivered to staff and carers across the city, within care homes, foster provision, off-site education, through care and after care provision, and employability services.
